For the first few weeks our cockapoo puppies are brought up in a whelping box in the heart of the family home. Unable to see or hear for the first few weeks, the puppies mainly want to stay warm and cosy and close to mum. However very gently we begin to handle and nurture them so their confidence, trust and bond with humans begins.
A family member sleeps in the same room at night to ensure the puppies are safe, well and clean at all times.
At around three to four weeks old, the puppies move into their puppy bed and run, as this supports their natural development to explore and be in a safe environment. As dogs are clean by nature, it also allows them to practise toileting away from their bed area which they all do out of their own volition immediately. This makes it very easy to house train them at a later date in their forever homes.
All puppies are cuddled in various parts of the family home by each family member, so naturally become used to different people, and different environments. As they get a little older and their curiosity increases they have the run of different parts of the home and times of play with balls, cardboard boxes, tug of war toys etc. This play enables their brains to develop but also starts the process of teaching them what is theirs and what isn’t. All puppies need to chew as they are teething, it’s just a simple case of giving them the appropriate products. All of this regular practice makes life so much easier for the new owners, and also for the transition of the puppy.
We feel the puppies are an extension of our family, and as such we work hard to give them the very best start we can. We believe the work we put in at the earliest foundation level has a lasting effect on the dogs psyche. So far that has proven to be true, with every previous puppy owner reporting back to us that their cockapoo is an exceptionally deeply affectionate and happy dog.
Your Cockapoo Puppy…
Will be thoroughly vet checked by Hills Vets, Crouch End N8. (Hillsvets.co.uk), with written proof to say so, and they will also be microchipped and receive the first of their two vaccinations. Your puppy will also be flea treated and wormed.
